These men are on the endangered species list, but when you find them, hold on tight. Of all the men I’ve dated in the last two years, the ones who don’t “do” social media are usually on top of the relationship material list. Besides those I’ve dated, my best friend is married to one, and my two brothers are also social media free; all happen to be amazing men.
Here are your top 5 reasons to date a man who doesn’t “do” social media:
THEY CALL, THEY DON’T TEXT
We already know how I feel about this. Texting creates a false sense of intimacy, and a caller is a keeper. A phone call means focused attention on your conversation and helps build a real connection.
THEY ARE PRESENT WHEN SPENDING TIME WITH YOU
We live in a zombie like society. People’s heads are buried in their cell phones and half the time you’re talking to them, they are not fully present because they’re checking their social timelines. Date the guy who is social media free and your time will be spent interruption free.
THEY ARE NOT SEEKING ATTENTION
My friend was dating this guy and he forgot his phone when they went to dinner. When they got back to the car, he was really upset because no one texted, or liked one of his photos while he was gone. He immediately began to post pictures to Instagram in hopes of garnering some attention. The man who is social media free is more confident and comfortable in his skin.
THERE ARE NO SOCIAL MEDIA PROVOKED ARGUMENTS
Who is that girl whose pictures you constantly like? Why is your ex commenting on all of your pics? Shouldn’t we be Facebook official? These conversations are non-existent when you date a man who isn’t active on social media. All that matters is the real life connection you are building.
THEY DON’T REVISIT THE PAST (THAT OFTEN)
Out of sight, out of mind! He may still send or receive the occasional “Hey Stranger” texts, but for the most part, when these men’s exes are out of sight (or out of their timeline in this case), they are also out of mind and remain in the past.
What do you think ladies? Are you willing to give the social media free man a chance?
